Description and Overview
The Marco SP9 is one of the few products on the market that allows baristas to create consistent pourover coffee. Taking pourover coffee to the next level with an under-counter boiler that takes up minimal counter space and an eye-catching brew head, the SP9 allows you to extend your coffee offerings from single origin coffees to custom blends brewed one at a time for every customer.
Simply set your water volume and brew time and you’re ready to create a fresh Chemex or Hario coffee for the customer. Maintaining the same level of consistency and quality in every brew, the SP9 is an unrivaled single-serve brewer.
*Does not contain brewing devices or filters. Contains head(s) and under-counter boilers only.
How it Works
Utilizing an innovative design strategy, the SP9 keeps the water circulating between the brew head and the boiler at all times to generate a stable water temperature for every brew cycle.
As brewing is sensitive to even slight changes in water temperature, this system ensures repeatable results and unvarying quality that businesses can build a reputation on.
Maintaining a constant water level in the chamber allows the SP9 to guarantee a predictable and steady volume for every pourover. When the valve opens to release the water, the downward brew pressure will remain constant.
This total accuracy in water volume is a built-in function that manual brewing does not have the capacity to provide. Between the SP9’s stability of water temperature and volume, baristas gain incredible control of the quality of the coffee served to every customer.
Features and Functionality
Compatible with most manual pourover brewing devices (e.g. Chemex, Kalita, Hario): The SP9 can be used with many brewing devices that coffee shops are already using to make pourovers, enhancing the machine’s flexibility and user friendliness.
Precise water temperature: Because the SP9 ensures precision in the water temperature, baristas can expect fully developed flavors in the extraction process that won’t vary from cup to cup.
Preset brewing time (1 to 5 minutes): The barista sets the timing between 1 and 5 minutes for greater control. This means that brew times can be customized for any coffee type for the best results.
Preset volume (150 to 750ml): The barista determines the exact water volume, enhancing consistency and allowing businesses to offer a range of sizes for pourovers.
Pre-infusion: Incorporated into the machine’s programmability is pre-infusion, a method of saturating the coffee grounds in an initial phase of brewing. This creates a more balanced and full extraction of the coffee’s natural flavor characteristics.
Pulse brewing: After you’ve set your parameters for the brew time and water volume, the SP9 will determine and deliver an accurate number of pulses.
Under-counter boiler: The boiler is hidden underneath the counter to limit the amount of counter space eaten up by bulky equipment and show only a sleek machine to customers. Baristas and customers alike will also enjoy the show as the water circulates on the brew head.
Optional configurations: The SP9 is customizable to suit a variety of businesses. The SP9 boiler can support two SP9 heads, one SP9 head, or a combination of one SP9 head and a 1-button font water source.
Coming from an entry-level machine, the Bianca V2 is a revelation. Everything about it is luxurious, beautiful, and well built. Espresso tastes amazing and is a joy to produce. Flow profiling works very well and is completely intuitive. Steam was my biggest gripe on my former machine and there is zero issue in this area with the Bianca: the arm is cool to the touch, glides around at any angle, and produces steam reminiscent of a rocket engine. Silky textured milk is easy to make with so much power at your disposal. The one downside I've had so far is that setup was not intuitive and the help guide was both hidden at the back or the manual and filled with unhelpful pictograms. Assembly is logical but I wanted to be careful and meticulous on such a beautiful machine so it took about twice as long as I expected. The machine is also very heavy, which is good for thermal stability, but means that you need a helper for the initial assembly.
I wanted the stainless-steel panels for the Prima E1 and placed the order back in February. It took a little while, but I received the Prima E1 on May 3rd. Throughout the shipment from Italy to the US arrival, I received prompt updates from Majestic Coffee on the approximate delivery date. I fell in awe upon receiving the Prima E1 with all stainless-steel panels. The beautiful machine was perfectly packaged and delivered in a white glove style. I recommend Majestic Coffee for its professionalism and flow of information.
This may be looked at by some as a little overkill for a hobby and not quite good enough for a small cafe, but for me (hobby) it was the next best and last upgrade. I love it. Very nice evenly roasted batches and the 1/2 pound per roast really add so much value for me. I have tried different beans with different roasts and each one comes out perfect.
We're still working out all of the parameters to pull a perfect shot, but this thing is already making some of the best-tasting espresso I've ever had. Believe the hype! I also love the (mechanical) simplicity of it. It will definitely last a lifetime.
I'm really happy with this machine, it is doing great work. The PID and pressure gauge/adjustment are top awesome, you really do want these, they make such a difference.
I do not like the instructions that came with it, they do not explain how to do the first fill of the boiler well at all, which left me thinking I had damaged the machine. Thankfully I have a friend who has the Silvano and he explained how to do it, noting that the instructions are kind of misleading.
Now the machine is now my pride and my joy, it is beautiful and makes really good espresso!
I also got a "smart plug" and have it set up on my phone so the machine comes on 20 or so minutes before I typically need coffee.
By far the best experience I’ve ever had on a dual boiler machine. Encountered a small issue from the shipment but the customer support was prompt and helpful. Stylish craftsmanship, this dual boiler has got all the bells and whistles to experiment with and you can’t find the better deal anywhere else.
Great Simonelli Machine and Service from Majesty Coffee
The Nuova Simonelli Appia Life Compact espresso machine is a wonderful machine. We replaced a completely manual machine so the volumetric function on this machine and the built-in steam thermometer are nice upgrades.
I appreciate that Majesty Coffee was able to work with our school district and accept a purchase order. This is the only way that we could purchase the machine, and while not the easiest for Majesty, they took the extra steps to work with our internal purchasing processes. I will recommend Majesty Coffee to others and will continue to purchase from them.
