Eureka Mignon Specialita

For an extremely affordable price tag, it gives you moderately sized 55mm burrs, a versatile stepless grind adjustment system, and quiet grinding that’ll make you look forward to using it. We also can’t help but mention the touchscreen controls, which lend the grinder a refreshingly modern feel.

Key Features and Why They’re Important

Stepless Grind Adjustment

Are you a skilled barista or someone who wants to be able to exercise total power over the consistency of your grind? The Specialita has got you covered, then, thanks to its stepless grind adjustment system.

A stepless grind adjustment system is the pinnacle in versatility and accuracy. Instead of restricting you to just a handful or more of premade grind settings, you’ll be able to twist the Specialita’s adjustment dial to any point you desire.

Bottom Burr Adjust

The texture of your grind is dictated by the distance between your grinding burrs. As you twist the adjustment dial or knob, the grinding discs are moved closer or farther apart to change the coarseness of your grind.

For some grinders, the top burr is the one that’s moved when you dial in the grind. Should you ever remove the top burr for maintenance, your selected fineness is lost as a result.

That’s not how the Specialita operates. It has a bottom burr adjustment design, so the bottom burr is the one that moves whenever you alter the fineness level. Because of this, your fineness setting is kept in place even when you need to take apart the grinder for maintenance and cleaning.

Touchscreen Operation

The slanted panel on the front of the Eureka Mignon Specialita doesn’t just look spiffy – it’s also a touchscreen display. Since virtually everyone knows how to operate a touchscreen now, the presence of a touchscreen panel on this grinder can make it more welcoming for beginners.

Another benefit to this design element is more superficial: it keeps the machine’s exterior from being cluttered with buttons. Because of this, the Specialita is able to attain a sleek and polished look that not all grinders are able to imitate.

Flat Steel Burrs

You can’t have a discussion about a grinder without talking about its burrs. In high-quality grinders, burrs are the grinding discs that handle the crushing of your beans. Everything about them, including their size, shape, and material, influences your grinding.

In the Specialita, you’ll have flat steel burrs. This shape, flat, is great for consistent grinding because it produces perfectly homogenous particles. Due to the uniformity, the extraction phase is typically well-balanced and the resulting drink is full-bodied.

There’s also the material to talk about. Steel burrs are prized for their toughness, as they are resistant to chipping and cracking that ceramic burrs can be susceptible to. They’re also razor-sharp, making them excellent for quickly grinding through beans.

Finally, we should talk about the size. The Specialita’s burrs are 55mm in diameter, which is a size upgrade from the standard 50mm in the Mignon line. This slight increase in size will help boost the grinder’s speed.

Compact Design

Burrs aren’t the only part of a grinder for which size is an important consideration. Of course, there’s the overall size of the grinder itself to consider, too.

While a large grinder may be powerful, many people may simply not have room for one. That’s what’s so nice about the Specialita; it’s a wonderfully compact grinder.

To be specific, it is 5 inches wide, 5.6 inches long, and 13.8 inches tall. You can be certain that you’ll have room to spare for it.

Sound Insulation

Whether at home or in a business, baristas accept the noise of a good grinder as a necessary evil. Crushing coffee beans, by its very nature, is a loud activity.

But the truth is, your grinder doesn’t have to be annoyingly loud. With the special insulation in the Specialita’s case, this grinder is able to run without disrupting the atmosphere.

It won’t be perfectly silent, of course, but the Specialita will be one of the quietest grinders you’ll have heard.

Programmable Timer

Beyond its touchscreen: the Specialita has another trick up its sleeve to make it one of the easiest grinders you’ve used: programmable timing. If you know how long to grind for a particular dose, you can program the timer with that dose in advance.

Later, whenever you need a shot of espresso, for example, you can just choose the timing you’ve already programmed in. If you’re looking for a grinder to use in your business, you can have the settings programmed for your employees ahead of time, reducing the time they’d need to spend training and memorizing doses otherwise.

Different Configurations

This is an excellent option for beginners and experts alike. With its programmable timer and touchscreen, using this grinder will feel like a breath of fresh air.

The Specialita isn’t the only Mignon in the series, though. Let’s take a look at some of the other configurations that are available to you…

Eureka Mignon Silenzio

Eureka Mignon Silenzio

If we were to ask you what you thought the Eureka Mignon Silenzio specializes in, you’d probably be able to guess the answer based solely on its name. The key here lies in the word “Silenzio.”

This grinder was created with your comfort in mind. Its sound-insulated case makes it almost eerily quiet, so it’s perfect for home use or in otherwise quiet environments such as offices.

Here are a few other noteworthy features:

  • Programmable timing you can set in advance.
  • Bottom burr adjust that will hold your settings in place even when you remove the top burr for cleaning.

Eureka Mignon Perfetto

Eureka Mignon Perfetto

The zenith of the Mignon series might just be the Eureka Mignon Perfetto. It has many of the same features of the other Mignon models with some amazing upgrades.

For instance, it has a clump crusher built right in to stop your grounds from getting clumpy. This ensures a well-rounded extraction every time, which translates to flavorful drinks.

These are a few additional impressive Perfetto features:

  • An easy grind adjustment dial with color-coded markings on it.
  • Touchscreen controls for effortless operation.
  • Quiet grinding that won’t disrupt your home or business.

Comparable Alternatives

Fiorenzato Evo

Fiorenzato Evo

If you want something that’s a step up from many of the Mignon models, the Fiornzato Evo is the more advanced espresso grinder you may be looking for. It has many similar features to the Specialita, but with some noticeable improvements.

One such improvement is its large 64mm flat burrs. This size increase lends it a bit of a boost to its speed, making it possible for it to grind even faster.

What’s more, it has an extra-large hopper that can hold up to 3.5 pounds of coffee beans. With this sort of capacity, you won’t need to worry about refilling it every few minutes, even during your busiest times.

These are a few additional highlights of the Evo:

  • Powerful 350-watt motor.
  • A highly precise and flexible stepless grind adjustment system.
  • Multiple color variations.

Compak K3 Touch

Compak K3 Touch

The Compak K3 Touch may look basic at a glance, but this grinder is anything except ordinary. It gives baristas a number of advanced features for a budget-friendly price.

Start by considering its low blade speed. If that sounds like a bad thing, keep in mind that the grinder’s low blade speed is a protective measure for your coffee. Because the blade speed isn’t as high as with other models, heat caused by friction is reduced and the coffee is shielded from burning.

Then there’s the timed dosing. Like with the Mignon grinders, you can use a timer to help you guarantee you’re getting the same amounts of grounds whenever you prepare a drink.

Our Compak K3 Touch comes with a range of other important qualities:

  • Simple, easily understandable controls.
  • Portafilter holder adjustability to accommodate portafilters of different sizes.
  • An easy-to-clean design so you won’t dread maintenance.

About the Brand

You might not know it based on the name, but Eureka is another reputable Italian manufacturer. Italian espresso grinders and machines are prized around the world, since Italy is where these machines were originally created.

Believe it or not, Eureka has existed for over one hundred years. In all this time, they’ve focused on producing handmade, top-of-the-line espresso gear. Even today, they continue to produce all their equipment by hand in Florentine.

Ideal Grinder Applications

The Eureka Mignon Specialita isn’t quite built for medium to large establishments with its smaller size and burrs. However, we feel as if it would be suitable for a small business, like a coffee shop or restaurant.

With its sound insulation, it’s also an excellent addition to places where quiet is necessary. For example, it could be work wonderfully in an office or small motel. You could even comfortably use it at home.

Given the glowing feedback we’ve received for it, we can say with confidence that the Specialita is a top-notch grinder.

Great Grinder!

Wonderful upgrade from my old burr grinder. The options are a little overwhelming, but that is a good thing!

Perfect every time

It is actually kind of eerie after 10 years of using a Silvia to get absolutely consistent coffee that gets all the little nuances of flavor. An amazing machine.

Fantastic Machine

This is a huge step up from my beloved Rancilio Sylvia, which was 20 years old. Excellent Machine- with a very gently learning curve. Highly recommended!

Newbie!

I’m a completely self taught barista who got a wild hair to open a small coffee shop in a location that didn’t have one and this machine did not disappoint!! Minus the manual not being friendly to the inexperienced..- with a little research I was elbow deep in milk!!! I pulled about 80 shots my first day and around that much my second! Fantastic machine, if you can eeek out the money!!!
