If making lattes and cappuccinos with rich, delicious espresso and silky-smooth microfoam at home is your goal, the Rocket R58 V2 has exactly what you’re searching for.

Sturdy and beautifully built with a 304 stainless steel case, an “R” logo steam knob, and slender steam and hot water arms, the R58 is as classy as it is powerful.

The dual boiler system is hard to exhaust, even while you’re making back-to-back espresso drinks for guests. Featuring an adjustable PID temperature controller and lever-action brewing, Rocket makes sure that every element of a well-crafted espresso drink is in your control.

Small Offices

A semiautomatic espresso machine like the R58 may take a little training for a small office staff, but it certainly won’t have trouble delivering drink after drink for busy professionals.

Constructed with a rotary pump, it’s quieter than other espresso machines, so it won’t disturb employees hard at work.

And since you can plumb this model into a water line, nobody has to be responsible for refilling a low water tank, though you can switch to the reservoir any time it’s convenient. This flexible machine is built to fit your business.

Small Restaurants

Small enough to take up little space on the counter but robust enough to make drinks all day long in a fast-paced location, the R58 is an excellent pick for a restaurant.

Designed with automatic pre-infusion, a low water sensor, and no-burn steam and hot water wands, it’s the kind of machine that does a lot for the user without requiring constant attention.

All in all, this model is perfect for restaurant workers who want to make a great latte for their customers without having to train like a pro barista.

Other Businesses

From boutiques to spa retreats, gourmet coffee is added to the list of services to attract customers who love being pampered. It’s an effective way of tapping into a niche and standing out from the crowd.

As it can run solely on the water tank, the R58 works anywhere, inside or out. It’s ready to make first-rate espresso drinks right out of the box.

Description

The R58 gives you the control you need to hone your craft.

Rocket gets the little things right.

For each model it builds, Rocket takes a microscope to every facet of functionality and aesthetic design.

Each detail of the Rocket R58 contributes to its overall robust, user-friendly, and high-performance construction.

Key Features and What They Mean

Dual Copper Boiler System

The R58 has a high-capacity boiler system with a 1.8 liter insulated copper steam boiler and a .58 liter group boiler. Producing excellent temperature stability, it allows you to brew and steam at the same time all day long.

304 Stainless Steel Case

Durable, shiny, and elegant, 304 stainless steel gives the R58 a sleek appearance as well as a robust housing that stands up to heavy-duty usage.

External PID Temperature Controller

Using the easy external PID controller, you can adjust the group and steam boiler temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit to develop the exact coffee profile and results you desire. The controller includes multiple language settings to accommodate a wide variety of users.

E-61 Commercial Group

Raising the thermal stability of the machine, the E-61 group circulates hot water so that the temperature is consistent for brewing.

Dual Pre-Infusion

When you initiate brewing, Rocket’s dual pre-infusion system automatically saturates every coffee particle to create a richly flavored, creamy espresso.

Boiler and Group Pressure Gauges

Displaying the brew and boiler pressure, these gauges are installed on the face of the espresso machine to help you monitor important aspects of brewing and steaming. No guessing games, just accurate and reliable information.

Non-Compression Hot Water and Steam Valves

These valves glide effortlessly, making them much easier to utilize to the fullest extent. As an added bonus, they cost less to replace than standard compression valves.

No-Burn Hot Water and Steam Wands

Staying cool to keep the risk of accidental burns to a minimum, these wands are also easy to clean. The cooler surface of the steam wand makes it difficult for milk to stick, which means you won’t be scraping off milk crud later on.

2.5 Liter Water Tank

Large enough to keep the drinks coming, the 2.5 liter reservoir suits a location where constantly refilling a water tank would be less than ideal for productivity.

Plumb-In Convertibility

Whenever you want, you can change over to the direct-connect water supply from the water tank. This gives you options between the portability of the water tank and the simplicity and efficiency of a continuous water feed.

Rotary Pump

Super quiet, the rotary pump ensures that nobody in the vicinity is disturbed when someone is making a cappuccino.

Low Water Sensor

The machine will tell you when the water level starts to drop if you’re using the water tank. A light will flash so that you know when it’s time to refill—you don’t even need to take the water tank out to check.

Standard Accessories Included

To help you get started, the Rocket R58 comes out of the box standard with…

Rocket Metal Tamper

With an espresso machine this good looking, you should have a tamper to match. The Rocket metal tamper looks professional and assists in tamping with the right amount of pressure for properly extracted espresso.

Two 58mm Portafilters

Each purchase comes with two commercial-style 58mm portafilters (one single and one double) so that you can create espresso drinks to different specifications.

Stainless Steel Backflush Disk

To thoroughly clean the machine, a blind portafilter basket is included. Simply add some cleaner and start the backflushing process to ensure high-quality espresso shots day to day.

Drain Kit

To eliminate manual emptying of the drip tray, the drain kit sets you up for direct plumbing of waste water.

2 Steam Tips

You have your choice between the 1.7mm and 1.2mm hole steam tip when frothing milk to experiment with different steaming techniques.

Cleaning Brush

The cleaning brush gets at hard-to-reach areas of the group to keep it clean as a whistle.

Plastic Coffee Scoop

If you don’t have a coffee scoop, the R58 comes with one!

Common Questions and Answers

Q: How do you use a semiautomatic espresso machine like the R58?

A: Using a semiautomatic machine like the R58 is very different from using an automatic model that dispenses a programmed espresso shot when you press the dosing button.

But it’s not difficult! When you insert the portafilter with the tamped coffee in the R58, just pull the lever attached to the group all the way to start brewing. You’ll see the espresso start to drip and then pour.

When you feel that the coffee is finished extracting, push the lever in the other direction to stop the brew process. You can steam milk just like you would with an automatic machine if you’re making a milk-based drink.

As you can see, the major difference between using the R58 and your typical automatic with programmed dosing buttons is the manual control—you’re deciding when the espresso is ready each time you prepare a shot.

This gives you the ability to play around with the extraction, but it also contributes to a solid sense of the process itself if you’re learning about espresso. You’ll be an expert in no time.

Q: How does the E-61 commercial group in the R58 work?

A: Rocket models outfitted with E-61 groups channel hot water from the boiler to the group head and back at all times, even when the machine is idle. As a result, the group temperature stays within a more ideal brewing range, which is what you need for consistently flavorful espresso.

Also designed for automatic pre-infusion, the E-61 group releases water in a slow buildup of pressure when you pull the brew lever. Inside the group head, the coffee puck is fully saturated before full pressure is reached.

When you taste the espresso, you’ll find that the flavors are well-developed. This is because the extraction is nice and even with the subtle flavors drawn out of every coffee particle.

Basically, the E-61 group offers consistency and better espresso flavor, but with nothing extra required from the user. It’s just good engineering.

Q: What is the PID controller in the R58 and what does it do?

A: A PID controller is a system that regulates mechanical processes based on an algorithm. In the case of the R58, the PID provides temperature control, continuously monitoring variables and adjusting for the correct temperature.

Assisted by the PID controller, you can adjust the group and steam boiler temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit. As temperature fluctuations are not uncommon in espresso machines, being able to set accurate temperatures gives you access to more consistent shot performance.

You may even just want to play around with temperature to see what changes occur in the espresso. Either way, the PID controller is your ticket to guiding the espresso in any direction you want.

In-House Testing & Manufacturing Our espresso machines and grinders are high quality, specialty equipment. They are manufactured mainly in Italy, Spain, and Germany (for Mahlkonig grinders).

Some hand crafted machines may have slight imperfections from manually hammering the raw materials.

Many products are bench tested prior to shipping to ensure they are in perfect working condition before arriving at your location.

Therefore, some coffee grinds and remnants of water may be visible upon receiving the machine. This does not indicate the machine is used. We only ship brand new machines unless we state otherwise.

Any open box or used equipment will be specially and clearly marked on the individual product page.

Fabulous espresso machine

This is a perfect espresso machine for your home. Doesn’t take up a lot of space and is super easy to use. And most importantly it makes fabulous espresso and the steamer is great for lattes and cappuccino.
Go ahead buy it and you won’t regret it. Your Capp will taste better than you know who(S)!!

4/5

I'm giving this machine 4/5. For the moost part, the machine is great, but I must say that some of the knobs on the machine feel a bit cheap.

Also, the control system makes me cycle through all of the other steps just to adjust the temperature (which is mainly what I want to adjust most of the time). Other than that the machine is great and well worth the price.

Wonderful

Even after a few months, I'm still making the perfect shots. Haven't even adjusted anything. Has been a great experience.

Mahlkonig gh2

This thing is awesome and arrived SUPER quick!

Quick and easy with a little mess.

As advertised, it tamps consistently. Each tamping process is quicker and easier than manual tamping. I like the fact the process requires only one hand, as opposed to two in manual.
The only drawback is that the tamper surface gets dirty with the grind very quickly (because it does not 'twist" as in manual). After 3 or 4 tamps we have to clean it with a rug or a brush, leaving the coffee grind around the device.
Overall, we are happy with the purchase, and my overworked wrist with a tendonitis thanks a lot. I know it is an expensive investment, but loss of my hand will cost a lot more.

Izzo Alex Leva

Well right at one year ago I got my Alex Leva and dearly love it .. But today after right at one year of use it has stopped working... You flick the on switch and nothing , the PID does not light up but the on/off switch lights up sometimes but not always.. Other than the light on the on/off switch the machine seems dead... I do hope this is not a big deal after just a year of use... Up until this point I would give my Alex Leva a five star rating , but now I may have to revise my review... We shall see.
